We’re still feeling the affects and modern day slavery is thriving.

Actor and playwright Kwame Kwei-Armach has a good piece in the Guardian online: From Ian to Kwame – Why Slavery Made me Change my Name.

That was a wonderful experiential piece. I just wish that everyone who “finds” themselves wouldn’t choose the same bloody name. Do you know how many Kwames I’ve encountered? It’s a problem of pronunciation, really. Our anglicized african tongues just can’t get around some of the more fascinating names. So, we end up choosing and REchoosing the same ones. 😉
