Urm, who thought this would be a good idea? March 30, 2006

Posted by Winter in WTF.

I’m not going to go in heavy on the feminist, or indeed any other analysis on this one. surely everyone can see how wrong this is.

I’d be interested to know what Ms Spears makes of this. Doesn’t look much like either and why a bear skin rug? All a bit postmodern for me….

I think it’s a silly and rather ugly piece of art, but the artist is getting hismelf a lot of publicity by using Britney;s image and claiming it’s a pro-life statement.

I really don’t like the idea of a male artist appropriating a woman in this way to make his own points.

Also, she looks like she’s preparing for doggy style sex rather than birth.

It’s just so wrong on so many levels. And I thougt they had taste and decency laws in America. well decency laws anyway.

Brittney Spears had a planned caesarian anyway!

I agree with winter – that ‘pose’ is taken right out of pornography (apparently, pornography of the pregnant is all the rage these days) and a bearskin fug? ffs. Personally, I have never spoken to a woman who disclosed adopting such an unhelpful position in which to give birth – and I’ve spoken to a lot of women about their birthing experiences…

I’m seriously wondering what this piece of ‘art’ looks like at the business end but no-one seems to be showing us that. I wonder why.

I so hope she sues him.

I can’t understand why so many are up in arms about the sculpure. I can’t see any pro-life message to this art other than the fact that the artist has put some anti-abortion material on a table next to it. Where is the connection other than in his head?

I agree, if anything an image like that would put me off any kind of baby making activity with breaking out the contraception first.

It’s pretty ugly. Frankly, I just don’t like it, it gives me the creeps.
