Just a very quick news update. We had our first discussion night on Thursday last week and I’m pleased to say it was a success. There was a bounty of tea and cake which is always helpful, and the discussion lasted for a full two hours and explored many areas pertinant to global feminism, with no uncomforatble silences. We also had a good turn out and made a few new contacts. A special mention must go to Winter Woods who put in a lot of effort setting up the venue, publicising the meeting etc. Without her input I doubt it would have happened.

Aw shucks! Overall I was pleased, but we did learn a few lessons for next time. If we have a reading, we need to make sure that one of us gives a short summary to the rest of the group. The summarising process was slightly chaotic and I think a few people were a bit lost at the beginning. Debi also sugested that we should have some interesting articles/material on the topic photocopied for people to take away and read. I think that’s a good idea too.

I ment to say we might need to watch out for the tendency with a few people to over intelectualise, because as you said, a few people (well me) got lots to begin with. Still, I thought it went really well
